Max Takes the Mound at Legends Field

Some moments are exciting while they are happening. Others become treasured memories almost immediately. For our family, Saturday, October 10, was both.

Max had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at a Kansas City Diamonds game at Legends Field. Anyone who knows Max knows how much he loves sports, so being invited onto the field was a very big deal. He was excited from the moment he learned about it—and when the time came, he stepped up and delivered.

A First Pitch to Remember

There is something special about walking onto a professional field. The lights, the stands, the players warming up and the view from the mound make the moment feel larger than life. Max took it all in, then focused on the catcher and made his throw. The pitch itself lasted only a few seconds, but the smile afterward said everything.

For Max, it was a chance to be part of the action in a sport he loves. For the rest of us, it was a proud reminder of what can happen when people create opportunities, welcome others in and make room for a fan to become part of the game.

“Some moments are measured by the scoreboard. The best ones are measured by the joy on someone’s face and the memory they carry home.”
